I met Dominik many years ago. We were both "students" and, above all, great friends of Freddy Friedrich. Freddy, who passed away in March 2023, was a chef with a true heart whom I invited to RiFF on numerous occasions, and even to Angel Azul. I'm sure many of you will remember him. We reconnected with Dominik at his funeral and bonded immediately, like brothers.
It is a great pleasure for me to cook alongside him and honor Freddy's memory. His widow, Chantal, will travel all the way from Frankfurt to join us for this emotional event.
Geiger Alm's Cuisine: Alpine Roots with a Star
Dominik, together with his wife Eva-Maria, run a small restaurant in their hometown of Bad Aussee. More than a restaurant, it's an "Alm" (mountain hut) called Geiger Alm. Their cuisine is deeply inspired by the roots of the Alps.
Last year the Michelin Guide returned to Austria after many years of absence. Geiger Alm was directly awarded a Michelin Star, a clear recognition of the passion they put into their work. In addition, the prestigious Gault&Millau guide—a benchmark in Austria during Michelin's absence—gave them 17 out of 20 points and 4 out of 5 toques. The same guide awarded Eva-Maria the Service Award 2024 for the best restaurant and wine service in all of Austria.
